Photography, From Passion to Profits

Why do we need another book on the photography business?

It’s fairly simple.

I personally feel the right questions have not all been asked and answered. Certainly the usual legal, financial, and marketing topics have been covered, and even then, I know for a fact some of those have changed over the years. Have we adjusted our strategies? We definitely cannot do business like we used to. All over the planet, every type of industry is undergoing major changes. The recording, electronics, communications, advertising, print, television, radio, automotive, paper mills, electricians, and repair technicians of all sort – everyone is reassessing not only how the perform their technical skills but also how to deal with the business side of their work.

Photography has completely profession changed as a technical craft. No more darkrooms. No more secrets. The Magical process has metamorphosed. Instant gratification has taken hold of the consumer market.

The era of “Good Enough” is facing us directly.

Over the last few years, different manufacturers of equipment have taken over. What is left for us to do? Come to the cashier and pay. Years ago, you would buy a piece of gear – a camera, and it would last for decades if well kept. Today, you are lucky to keep a digital camera for three years before someone convinces you to upgrade.

You want to tell me little has changed! You insist on doing business the same way! Get ready for a tough ride.

Why should you even consider buying this book?

• To price your work for profits.

• To get clients who can afford your services.

• To set yourself apart from the ever-increasing competition.

• To focus your energies on a market that is profitable.

• To reduce the amount of time you spend at work and to enjoy life.

You have learned how to master your photographic art; selling is also an art form you can tame.
